Thank you for your interest in a tour of the United States Capitol, seat of our nation’s legislative branch. A new, state-of-the-art Capitol Visitor Center has opened, and now the process for reserving tours is much easier and the tour itself is more enjoyable. You can reserve your tour by clicking on the below “book your tour” link.

After you click on the link, you will be able to search available dates and times to make the reservations that work best for you and your group. No reservation is required to see the exhibits in the Capitol Visitor Center, but you will need a reservation to tour the inside of the U.S. Capitol building itself.

Please note that no backpacks or large bags are allowed in the Capitol Visitor Center. If you have bags that are too big to take into the Capitol, you can use Congressman McDermott’s office (across the street from the Capitol building) as a place to leave them during your tour.

After you see the exhibits and/or take the tour, Seattle residents are encouraged to stop by Jim’s Congressional office. The office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. At the office, the Congressman’s staff can also supply you with Capitol Gallery tickets, which will give you access to the House and Senate Galleries through the Visitor Center. From the respective Galleries, you can view where the House and Senate debate and cast votes.
