CONGRESSMAN RENACCI VOTES TO REMOVE JOB-DESTROYING GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS

Washington, DC—Congressman Jim Renacci (OH-16) today voted in support of a bill that will instruct House committees to identify and remove federal agency rules and regulations that may harm the ability to create jobs and grow the economy.

H.Res. 72 would direct 10 House committees to review existing, pending, and proposed regulations from federal government agencies, particularly with respect to their impact on jobs and economic growth.

“The Dodd-Frank Act requires financial regulators to issue 330 new regulations. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act added 6,123 pages of regulations in just its first nine months,” Renacci said. “With an ailing U.S. economy and American families struggling to pay their bills, the costs and burdens of federal regulations have never been more significant. Over-reaching regulations increase the cost of doing business and destroy jobs.”

The Financial Services Committee, on which Renacci sits, is one of the committees ordered to review federal regulations. It is expected to focus its oversight on provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform bill, among other issues. Renacci’s vote in favor of this resolution is a vote to remove the burden of government red tape and restore certainty and predictability to the marketplace.
