The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Testimonials

Vania Kinard

Vania Kinard Spring, 2011 - "Interning for Representative Karen Bass has been an amazing, inspiring and truly rewarding experience. Joining the Member’s journey as a freshman in Congress is one experience that I will treasure forever. Being a part of a hard working passionate team leading to the daily responsibilities that I have in the office, each day is filled with surprises and stories that I will never forget."

"My favorite memories were when I had the opportunity to sit down with various constituents and discuss the issues affecting the District at large. In addition, I have enjoyed teaming up with staff on the Foster Care Issue by doing research, meeting with constituents that have been in the foster care system, and helping the Member establish a solid Foster Care plan. Overall, my internship experience is more than I could ever imagine and I am confident that the skills and knowledge that I have gained will help me transition into the next phase of my life as a public servant, and emerging leader."

John Torre Summer, 2011 - "Interning for Congressmember Karen Bass has left an indelible mark on my life and hands down was the most rewarding experience thus far. For ten weeks I had the pleasure and honor of working in a office filled with enthusiasm and energy."

"I derived some of the fondest memories from my daily interactions with constituents from around the District. Moreover, I genuinely enjoyed working alongside the Legislative team on varying tasks, whether it be conducting research  on a certain social issues or tracking down legislation on the House Floor. In conclusion, the experience I acquired during my internship can not be learned in classrooms or lecture halls, only through first hand exposures. I would implore all students to apply for this internship; it will provide a profound understanding of self discovery and community engagement."
