Gwen Moore Applauds President Obama's Decision to Appoint Richard Cordray to Head the Consumer Financial Protection Agency

Milwaukee, WI - Today, Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4), applauded President Obama’s announcement that he will appoint Richard Cordray as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau during the Senate recess. She released the following statement:

“For more than six months Republicans have obstructed the appointment of Richard Cordray in an effort to protect their special interests and prevent the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from fulfilling its mandate to ensure that consumers get the information they need to make the financial decisions they believe are best for themselves and their families.

“Throughout his career Richard Cordray has fought to uphold the rights of the American Consumer. I am confident that he will continue to work to ensure that all Americans are given the necessary consumer resources and protected from any unfair, deceptive or abusive financial practices as head of this very important agency.

“I applaud President Obama for taking this bold step on behalf of the American people.”
