Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry made the following statement on the 11th anniversary of September 11, 2001:

“Eleven years ago, four senseless acts of terrorism took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans and drastically altered our nation’s future. Today we remember those who died tragically on that fateful day and the family members who continue to mourn such terrible loss.

“This day is now known as Patriot Day. We also honor the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to defending America and bringing hope to others. The work of our military, homeland security forces, police officers, firefighters, and emergency first responders provides protection for that which we hold most dear. Their bravery and sacrifice renew our hope for a more peaceful world.”
