  2. Before enjoying the Aggies' BIG win in the Cotton Bowl, Rep. Barton got a chance to meet Arlington Police Office Cornelius Gibson. He is a motor officer who wore this commemorative helmet while escorting the A&M football team around town the week of the game. Gig 'em!

  3. Rep. Barton will appear on The Mark Davis Show at 9:05 Texas time to discuss why he voted NO on the fiscal cliff deal. The show airs on 660 AM The Answer, but if you aren't near a radio...click the link below to listen live:
  4. PERSONAL UPDATE from the CONGRESSMAN: "The Senate passed fiscal cliff bill increases spending by $330 billion and increases the deficit by almost $4 trillion over 10 years. I will not vote for it. I suggested to House leaders to amend the bill to put in a lockbox for new revenues that would go to deficit reduction and then freeze all federal spending that is not a direct payment to an individual, such a social security or veterans benefits. My opinion is we must have real, immediate spending reduction. Whats your opinion?"
  5. PERSONAL UPDATE from the CONGRESSMAN: "As of 4:45 pm eastern time, there is no deal on averting the so-called fiscal cliff. The negotiations between the Senate democrats, President, and Senate republicans appear to have no spending cuts at all, an increase in taxes for capital gains and estate taxes, and an increase in income taxes for incomes above $400,000.If this 'deal' were presented to the House, I would vote 'no.'The package appears to be silent on the sequester, but the President has asked the sequester be deferred. What are your thoughts on such a deal,if my summary is correct?"
  6. PERSONAL UPDATE from the CONGRESSMAN: "Speaker Boehner made the right decision to withdraw Plan B and adjourn the House until the President and the Senate actually move a real bill that deals with real spending reductions and entitlement reforms that honestly reduce the deficit. The House has previously moved such legislation to the Senate. The Senate can act on the House bills or send substitute bills back to the House. Had there been a vote on Plan B - I would have voted No."

  8. PERSONAL UPDATE from the CONGRESSMAN: "Later tonight a vote is scheduled on so called 'plan B.' This bill would maintain existing tax rates for 98% of taxpayers, but would allow taxes to go up on those earning more than $1 million. I plan to vote 'NO!'. I don't support allowing taxes to go up on anyone. I believe our problem is too much spending, not too low taxes."
