  1. Today, I was proud to join a bipartisan group of colleagues to announce the Hurricane Sandy Tax Relief Act of 2012 – a bill to provide tax relief to the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Please get GOP Leadership to stop playing games. Social Security is paid for. Cut defense. Just cutting what the pentagon doesn't even want will save billions!

Watching Rep. Justin Amash challenge the status quo reminds me just what a disappointment your performance has been. You should take some cues from a statesman like Rep Amash instead of constantly bloviating empty rhetoric in the media and doing Boehner's leg work.

Hey Grimm, do you support jon boener caving into obama? Instead of raising taxes on anyone, we should take everything away from politicians who vote yes on higher taxes.

  5. I would like to wish everyone a happy and enjoyable Chanukah.
  6. Yesterday, I joined House colleagues in calling for an extension of the SBA loan application from December 31st to May 1st. New York's business owners continue picking up the pieces after Hurricane Sandy, and are still assessing the extent of the damage. The extension will give them time to fully assess the cost of the damage and apply for an appropriate amount of assistance.

  7. This Saturday and Sunday (Dec 8th & 9th) from 10am to 4pm at the NYC Restoration Center on 1976 Hylan Boulevard is hosting a "housing weekend." Sandy survivors looking for housing - to own or rent- should come by to speak with members of the NYC Housing Recovery team.
  8. Today, I met with House leadership, Governor Cuomo, and Republican House leaders from the NY delegation on Sandy recovery aid. Shortly after, we held a press conference where we were joined by the rest of the delegation. As NYers we remain united in our efforts to bring NY sufficient aid in the aftermath of the storm.

  9. I look forward to attending today's delegation meeting with Governor Cuomo and House leadership to discuss NY's recovery needs.
  10. To date, the SBA has approved $8,304,200 in loans to homeowners and businesses on S.I. SBA continues to urge all residents and business owners to complete and return their SBA applications. Also, if any homeowner, renter or business owner would like, they may still visit a BRC or a DRC and speak on-on-one with SBA customer service representatives.
  11. Today, I will be testifying before the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on the local impact of Hurricane Sandy. Tune in to CSPAN3 to watch the hearing.
  12. In the aftermath of Sandy, New York City is in desperate need of revenue and jobs, which is why I am thrilled that my legislation was signed into law yesterday. The NYC Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Act is the perfect example of government...
supporting private sector job growth here in NYC – without any federal spending – while bringing clean, affordable energy to our residents and businesses. At a time when many in NYC have suffered such great loss, this is welcomed news as we seek to rebuild our local economy and our communities.

  13. Just a reminder as you move forward with rebuilding: You must take precautions to eliminate all mold before rebuilding and ensure that your house is completely dry. For more information on guidelines, please visit the EPA/FEMA guidebook below.
  14. Today, I sent a letter to Governor Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg asking for their assistance in requesting FEMA aid to repair the Brooklyn seawall. Under a FEMA mission statement, FEMA could fund the repairs which would be executed by the Corps...
of Engineers, but the request must be made by the City and the State. We cannot go another year with severe flooding of the Belt Parkway, and I am doing all I can to ensure the sewall is repaired.
