(Washington, DC)– US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has released the following statement in support of U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson's ruling that the individual mandate of the new health care law is unconstitutional:

"I've said since before the bill passed that the individual mandate in the health care law violates the Constitution - specifically the Interstate Commerce Clause.  It's wrong that the government now has the power to punish the American people for not purchasing a product, in this case, health insurance.  I applaud Judge Hudson's ruling, and hope that other state governments, and ultimately the Supreme Court, will rule in favor of upholding the US Constitution".
