What is the most effective way to get Congress to do what I want?

The most effective way to get your point across is to write or call your own Congressman and your Senators. Members of the House of Representatives represent residents of specific geographical areas. Given the high volume of work their small staffs must accomplish, members are simply not able to fully respond to residents of other states and districts.
