Choose Respect

Senator Lisa Murkowski was pleased to see all delegation staff members, Alaskans in D.C., and friends of Alaska at the Senate side lawn marching in solidarity against sexual abuse and domestic violence. Senator Mark Begich, Congressman Don Young, and Governor Parnell’s Washington staff also participated in this event.

The statewide Choose Respect campaign highlighted the seriousness of these issues on March 29th, 2012. More than 100 communities participated in Choose Respect marches and rallies to stand up against the unacceptable epidemic of violence in Alaska. Thousands of Alaskans are standing up against these crimes and are igniting a movement to shine light on the issues and bring healing and justice to victims and survivors. The overarching message coming loud and clear from the Choose Respect campaign is simple – “You are not alone, and you are not to blame.” Below are highlights from the march.
