WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) this morning sent a letter of support for the formal Request for Disaster Assistance made by Governor Nixon yesterday. Emerson's letter cites devastating floods, widespread damage, and extreme disruption to the lives and economy of the region.

"A federal disaster declaration will provide some peace of mind to the people who have lost homes and property, to businesses which have lost buildings and productivity, and to agricultural operations which have lost farmland and equipment," Emerson said. "Some 440 road closures in our state have presented an immense challenge to commerce. The activation of emergency relief and loan programs is crucial for our families and businesses to get back on their feet."
