    Congressman Conway.
As a disabled veteran I am surprised by the injustice and negative way the Department of Veteran Affairs treated me, as an employee and as a disabled veteran. My disability from combat, brought me despair while working in the Prosthetic Department. My rights violated, no protection and the final draw termination from the department for aggravated injury while performing my duti...
es. Denial of workers comp was also part of my forceful separation from my duties as a government employee. This harassment went on week after week, while at the same time negative job reviews because I had positive written reviews from peers and fellow veterans that I serviced. I was there to perform my duties and should have never received repercussions for or complaining about about harassment. I bring this to your attention since my communication to Human resources and IG went to a joke of "hot potatoes" and remarks as to "report it to the next department we don't handle this issue". Please do not let this be a burden for disabled veterans, while performing duties in The Department of Veteran Affairs.

    Sincerely,
    Gabriel Camarena

Interesting to see the feds will spend $40+million on an owl but will cut COLAs for social security. Folks on Social Security need to let their representatives know how they feel about all the special funding projects and throwing the Boomers under the bus.

  5. To our elected officials
Good day and first of all I would like to thank you for your service. I would like to express a couple concerns so you might be aware of them as you conduct business which might address them.

    First gun control
In lew of the current tragic shooting of so many children. I would like you to be aware drugs are illegal yet we cannot control them or their importation from oth...
er countries. Illegal immigration proves we cannot stop the importation of a “man sized” item more or less automatic weapons. I believe this will drive up the price, demand and capabilities of them. If the price is there it would be an investment opportunity for others to import weapons which would likely included full auto Ak47’s and RPG’s which we really do not need to open the door to. Afterall if its illegal to own you might as well have the most effective. Disarm responsible citizens and you simply make them victims. We currently have the lesser of all evils do not open the door to more extreme weapons. We turned a blind eye to illegal immigrants and now there is a huge population of drug cartel, MS13 members and terrorists....simply because we allowed it to happen.

    Second is the budget
People across the country are loosing jobs, taking new ones at lower pay rates and in many cases having to sacrifice comforts and benefits in their lives due to the economy. I would like to suggest the following. The Federal government is one of (if not “the”) the largest employers in the country. I would like to suggest an across the board 5% pay cut for any and all employees of the Federal government except the non com military. This should include all aides, interns etc. anyone who receives a tax based payroll check and/or benefit. I would also suggest that Federal employees have their benefits realigned so all utilize the same medical, dental, retirement etc. benefits. Yes even begin contributing to them as virtually every private employee does. Yes I do mean this should include Congress, the Senate and the Whitehouse, all paid persons. I also believe a balanced budget should be tied to it as well. This means submit a budget that does not spend more than is taken in, Period (this budget should include funds to reemburse the borrowed funds from both the SSI fund and the American Indian compensation fund). This budget should include current and projected retirement costs. I think anyone who retires after serving 20 years should be entitled to a retirement fund, but not full pay (and medical benefits should not be included). They get their IRA, 401K and any others they have created and built as well as a Social Security benefit. I have to pay for my medical insurance after retirement so should all Federal retirees. Should any retiree in any public or private life have an income of pay or compensation greater than $250.000.00 they should not qualify for Social Security benefits. Money banked outside the United states should have any interest or gains taxed at the highest rate annually to entice them to keep it here and put it to work.

Ok I think that number 2 should help with the budget issue. I know many wont like these as they will affect their check, friends checks and so many others. My friends and family have had to deal with far greater financial issues, I feel its time the tables get balanced. Just as in all jobs in the real world If you cant afford the people to do the job you want, reevaluate the jobs to do and everyone takes on more work to get it done. If you cant do them all, prioritize them and do the most important ones. If you cant then it is time to get people who can.

This is not an insult on peoples capabilities or performance. It is not a slap or a complaint. It is a statement of fact that you do what you have to and if you cant then you get people who can. The greatest president, congresspersons and senators will be the ones who work together and sacrifice others and themselves to do what is right. I do not expect this to get done very simply because it is the right thing to do. But at least you were told it needed to be done.

    Good morning, Congressman,

My name is Rachel Kenyon. I am a proud and battle-tested Army wife and mom of two beautiful babes, one with autism. As Committee confers to reconcile House and Senate versions of the FY2013 NDAA, I personally ask...
for your acceptance and consideration of the attached 2,497 petition signatures and 421 individual comments regarding the Caring for Military Kids with Autism Act/Gillibrand Autism Amendment. I have spent the last two years pouring my heart and soul into seeing this legislation pass. I thank those of you who have offered your support and I beg those of you who are hesitant to accept this legislation to look again. Look at our bravest families. Look at the thousands of names and stories our citizens have lent to this cause. They represent only a small fraction of our military families in crisis. They speak for the thousands who are simply unable to fight for this while fighting every day for our country and for their own children with autism who need care.

Currently, TRICARE military healthcare provides less than half the recommended treatments for autism, and only to children of active duty service members.

Service members who retire after more than twenty years and Wounded Warriors forced to medically retire are stripped of what little treatment TRICARE allows via the Extended Care Health Option (ECHO).

On Thursday, May 17, 2012, Congressman John Larson took to the House floor armed with embarrassingly large photos of our little family and made the case for Caring for Military Kids with Autism Act to be included as an amendment to the FY2013 NDAA. It worked, because for Mr. Larson, this had become personal. It worked because Rep. Tom Rooney had the courage to walk up to Chairman Buck McKeon and tell him it was personal. Mr. Rooney has two nephews with autism. Mr. McKeon did the right thing, because now he understood, it was personal. The amendment passed as part of the NDAA in the House.

Senator Gillibrand and several bipartisan cosponsors passed a similar amendment in the Senate. Now our thousands of military families await conference committee members to approve this life-changing legislation.

I contact you today because this fight is so very personal for so many of us serving our country each day. Not only do I want my husband to feel that his more than 26 years of service warrant the medical care our daughter with autism needs, but I want my daughter to have the security of being able to access the tools that can give her a richer, more meaningful life.

It’s personal because I now hold 23,000 other children in my heart, and more than that many parents who serve our country. I love them as I love my own. I want them to feel proud of their country’s service to them in return. I want them to sleep at night, knowing that though autism may have knocked on their door, they can live their lives to the fullest with the care they need and deserve. It’s personal.

I started this petition on Change.org several months ago to garner support for this legislation. I believe in my heart that if you read even a small portion of the petition comments from your constituents, both military and civilian, you all will choose to do the right thing. To take this fight personally. To share with your fellow staffers, Senators and Representatives that our families are proud. That our children are worthy. That if just one military child was denied the cancer treatments he or she needed, we would not be wasting time with emails and petitions and action alerts. A true American who hears that 23,000 military children are being denied the medical standard of care for autism takes that personally. Well, for real American patriots, it is so very personal.

I appreciate your time and I pray for all of you and your loved ones, because I know that your own public service to our country is so vital as well.

For our little family, we will be spending another holiday season living with autism in our house and praying so hard that this is one fight we can say we have found victory.

    Best,

    Mrs. Rachel E. Kenyon

Wife to Command Sergeant Major William W. Kenyon, 1BN 102IN (MTN) CTARNG.

I firmly believe that returning to higher tax rates for those making $250,000 or more is absolutely necessary. 18. Mr. Conaway, you need bring out one the budgets that the House has passed in the last two years that does these things - 1) balance the budget, 2) provides for the common defense, 3)pays our debt & 4)makes the current tax rates permenant. You can go on the record that you've done your job as the Constitution prescribes and as you've been elected to do. Take that message to the American people, we will back you up. No more deals because the democrats will not honor them.

The congress, the senate and the president knew this fiscal cliff was coming when they voted for it and signed off on it. They should have been working to resolve it a long time ago. My concern is a quick fix can cause more damage then good. To give the president the right to raise the spending limit when he wants to, is crazy. Don't mess with Medicare and Social Security now. Stop earmarks, stop subsidizing, stop funding everyone's pet project, raise taxes on those making over $1,000,000, implement a balanced budget amendment and a term limits amendment. The federal government is so messed up now, how can it work?
  22. Chuck Gibsonposted toMike Conaway
Stop stealing from Social Security. The gimick tax break looks good but does more damage than good. Want to give a real tax break, cut federal taxes.

    Dear Congressman Conaway,

I am a school counselor in the Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas and I have served my country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. I have several family and friends here in West Texas that will all be severely impacted by the impending financial cliff. I am a Republican and have been since I could Vote in 1989. I have voted for you every t...
ime that I could because I believe you are a good representative for all. The election is over, and the man I voted for didn't get elected. We were crushed to see our candidate Mitt Romney lose. However, I am even more concerned now about the possibility of losing more pay to new taxes because of the House of Representatives not being able to agree to a budget plan. The Senate has been able to compromise despite bitter philosophical and political disagreements. What I am asking of you sir is that you consider what is reasonable for all Americans. One thing I think that we as Republicans need to consider at this point is real compromise. I don't believe that it is unreasonable to ask the top 10 % of Americans, those making 200,000 or more per year, to pay their fair share in taxes. I know It's not the best case scenario. However, I believe it to be necessary. I am asking you, sir, to be more than a Republican as you consider your support for the existing plans that have been proposed. I do not support The House Speaker's unwillingness to consider the President's plan. The decisions of Republican House Leadership on this issue is a dangerous game of chicken. Please don't be a part of it sir. You can break away from the rank and file and do what is best for the many citizens you serve. I have had this same conversation with many Republican family members, friends, school teachers, and others and I believe there are more Republicans who now want real compromise rather than the long stubborn impasse in negotiations that we continue to see every day. We are tired of the business as usual antics that are taking place right now between the two parties. Sir, I ask you to be the leader I voted for and be willing to do what is right for millions of Americans not just the wealthy corporate business owners that are paying the lobbyist effort on the Hill. Sir, Most middle class Republicans do not feel that a complete overhauling and major cuts to entitlement programs are essential to getting a budget deal. We're not gonna get our cake and eat it too. It just aint gonna happen. Please consider what the President, as much as I dislike and disagree with him, has to offer. Please do whatever it takes to avoid the impending financial cliff. If you do not, Sir, I'm affraid I can no longer support you and I further believe that many middle class Republicans will become so angered and dismayed that our GOP will lose more strength than it ever has. That will be sad day that hope never to see in my life. I have the utmost respect for you and always have. I pray that you will do what is best for all Americans. God be with you always.

I am writing at the request of President Obama to urge you to cooperate in helping the middle class stay middle class by not raising taxes on the middle and lower income people of America, but by making the wealthy pay their fair share in personal taxes to save our country from recession and/or depression. Taking an additional $2,000.00 from my family will bankrupt us. We are already barely able t...
o cover our bills with the tax rate as it is.

I believe that you and your fellow republicans are prosecuting a class war in America. For republicans to claim that wealthy people paying their fair share of personal taxes will kill jobs is just a scare tactic, or worse, a threat against America. How can raising personal taxes on the wealthy affect job growth unless wealthy business owners are going to cut jobs or refuse to create new ones as a retaliatory act against middle and lower income America? Seems to me that when these same wealthy business owners shipped millions of jobs out of the country that was the opening volley in their war against our country, is this round two?

Put on your big-boy pants and do what is right for the majority of Americans, the middle and lower income earners in America.
