Thanks for joining my first Twitter Town Hall
Thanks to everyone who joined my Twitter Town Hall on renewable energy. I enjoyed hearing the thoughts of Coloradans across the political spectrum on how we should pursue an all-of-the-above energy strategy that creates jobs, helps the environment and improves our energy security.
Coloradans get it when it comes to energy. After all, we are an all-of-the-above state, from the oil and gas of the Piceance Basin to the winds of the Eastern Plains and everywhere in between. We know a smart energy policy that focuses on renewable as well as conventional sources will keep jobs in the United States and create a more secure and sustainable energy policy. Here in Colorado, this isn't just rhetoric. Renewable energy has created thousands of good-paying jobs for hardworking Coloradans all across the state. And with some of the best solar and wind resources in the country, along with the top-notch minds at the National Renewable Energy Lab and our leading universities, Colorado will continue to be a national leader in renewable energy.
But Congress must do its job too. The continued uncertainty over the wind energy Production Tax Credit has cost Colorado and the United States jobs as well as jeopardized our position as a global leader in the wind energy industry. We have to extend the PTC as soon as possible. Congress must also get to work on comprehensive energy legislation that will help the private sector create jobs, improve our national security, protect the environment and cement our country as a global leader in the clean energy economy.
It's time for Congress to step up and lead the way toward a brighter, cleaner energy future. I look forward to playing an active role in shaping our energy future and continuing this conversation in the coming months on Twitter and across Colorado.
