  • Why is Colorado water important to you?

    Tuesday, May 22, 2012

The "Year of Water" is a chance for Coloradans to engage in a productive conversation about the value of and future demands on our water. In that spirit, I hope you will take a moment to share why water is important to you and encourage your friends and relatives to do the same, as well as sign up for my updates on water-related issues.

  • Water: Not just for fighting

    Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Water is our most precious natural resource in the West. It is also in limited supply. Therefore, it is often subject to conflict. (Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting, or so goes the old saying.) But thanks to the hard work of generations of Coloradans, we have been able to reap the benefits of our streams and rivers. That is something worth celebrating.

  • One Step Closer

    Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Yesterday, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) held a hearing on my bill to expand access to quality public shooting ranges. This is a crucial step for the legislation and one that would not have happened without your support and the support of more than 5,300 Coloradans who signed my petition asking for a hearing.

  • Colorado's Collaborative Spirit

    Thursday, April 19, 2012

I make a point of getting back home whenever possible to meet with Coloradans, hear their concerns and learn about their priorities for Congress. Over the past few weeks, I held town hall meetings in Burlington and Colorado Springs; roundtable events in Cheyenne Wells, Eads and Springfield; and I even took a short hike near Salida with Chaffee County officials and business leaders to hear their views on my proposed National Monument for Browns Canyon and the Arkansas River.

  • Thank You for Signing

    Thursday, March 29, 2012

Thank you for signing the petition in support of my bill to help small businesses access capital and create jobs. Over 6,000 Coloradans have signed their names to my petition, and the signatures are still coming in.

  • David vs. Goliath

    Wednesday, March 21, 2012

In Congress, passing common-sense legislation can seem like a battle between David and Goliath. In this case, Goliath is deep-pocketed special interest groups that use their influence to block bills before they can get a vote. David is Colorado small businesses that just need more loan options so they can create jobs.

  • Thank You for Signing

    Thursday, March 15, 2012

Thank you for signing the petition asking for a hearing on my bipartisan bill to create better and safer places for recreational shooting. Nearly 5,000 Coloradans from all across our state signed their names in support of my bill. And today, I delivered your signatures to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, which would convene such a hearing. I will encourage the committee to schedule a hearing at the earliest possible time, but I still need your help to pass this bill out of committee, through the Senate and onto the president's desk.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: Colorado's wilderness and recreation jobs

    Wednesday, March 7, 2012

I'm proud to launch a collaborative, community-driven process – in partnership with Senator Bennet and affected members of the House of Representatives – that I hope will ultimately allow Colorado to create legislation for wilderness and national monument designations in two areas – the Central Mountains and Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: Emerging Threats to U.S. National Security

    Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Last week, I hosted a public forum on emerging threats to U.S. national security. The event – which was co-hosted by The Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (The CELL) – featured some of our country’s top minds in the field of national security and delved deeply into some of the current and future threats to our homeland.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: 2012 Colorado Jobs and Economy Tour

    Thursday, February 23, 2012

Making time to meet with Coloradans is one of my top priorities. In the past month, I held town hall meetings and visited with business owners and community leaders in 12 counties. I plan to visit every region of the state again this year and look forward to seeing you when I visit your community.

  • Support My Shooting Range Bill

    Monday, February 6, 2012

Hunting and recreational shooting are a significant part of Colorado's sporting heritage, our outdoor recreation economy and the effort to conserve our natural resources. But as shooting ranges across our state close, hunters and marksmen are losing access to safe, well-managed areas where they can practice their sport.

  • Apply: 2012 Colorado Capital Conference

    Wednesday, February 1, 2012

With help from Colorado Mesa University and the University of Colorado, 100 Coloradans will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., June 5-7, to learn how they can influence the important decisions facing our country.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: Congress, Renew the Production Tax Credit

    Wednesday, January 25, 2012

As Congress goes back to work this week, I'm renewing my call to extend the critical renewable energy tax credits, like the production tax credit for wind, set to expire at the end of 2012. In these tough budget times, we owe it to taxpayers to enact policies that have the greatest potential return on investment and can create good-paying American jobs. Renewable energy tax credits make sense for Colorado and America's bottom line – and that's why I support them.

  • 24 Hours of Civility

    Friday, January 20, 2012

In the 24 hours leading up to the State of the Union Address, I'm calling on my colleagues to propose constructive solutions instead of launching political attacks.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: What are your priorities for Congress?

    Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I am constantly searching for new and better ways to connect with the people of Colorado online to hear your concerns and prioritize my efforts in Washington, D.C., accordingly. That's why I've created this short survey to learn what you think the top priorities for Congress should be this year.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: Season's Greetings

    Friday, December 23, 2011

Happy holidays! I hope this email finds you in good health and warm spirits. The holiday season gives us the opportunity to contemplate the things for which we are grateful - and to put our gratitude into words.

  • Mark's Newsletter Updates: 15 Highlights from 2011

    Wednesday, December 21, 2011

This year, Washington, D.C., became synonymous with partisan gridlock and political posturing. It would be easier to throw up our hands and say nothing can get done – but that’s not the Colorado way. When faced with obstacles, Coloradans don’t say, "I can't" – we pull together and work even harder to get things done.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: A Balanced Budget Amendment

    Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Next week, the Senate will consider my balanced budget proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution and require the federal government to balance its budget every year – the same way Colorado families do every day.

  • Mark's Newsletter Update: $15,000,000,000,000

    Wednesday, November 23, 2011

This month, the United States hit an unfortunate milestone. Our national debt officially passed $15 trillion – an enormous number that represents a serious threat not just to our economy, but also to our national security.

  • Good government is transparent

    Monday, November 7, 2011

Sign my petition and let the Department of Justice know that good government is transparent; we should not attempt to protect our citizens by misleading them.
