Murkowski on Fiscal Cliff: “Delaying Only Makes the Impacts Worse”

There have been conversations and negotiations on the fiscal cliff on Capitol Hill lately, and the U.S. Senate has been debating the Defense Authorization bill – including an amendment delaying any Eielson aircraft moving for a year – on the Senate floor. Because of these factors, there has been minimal committee activity to share with Alaskans.
Today, we do want to share with you Senator Lisa Murkowski’s thoughts on the looming “fiscal cliff” situation. Unless Congress forges an agreement with the President, there are across-the-board federal spending cuts set to begin on January 1st, along with tax hikes for most Americans. She shared the opening statement below with the Alaska press corps today in a teleconference with reporters.
