Petraeus to Testify on Libya Attack

Alaskan Impact: Like many Alaskans, Senator Murkowski has been outraged watching the inconsistent stories coming from the Obama administration surrounding the attack on our U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on 9/11/12.  What was originally called a grassroots uprising fueled by a YouTube video has now been traced to Al Qaeda in North Africa.  With threat levels rising in the days leading up to the event and reports that personnel were possibly discouraged from responding, the Senate Intelligence Committee will hear from former CIA Director General David Petraeus and the Director of National intelligence in a closed hearing.

The Path Ahead for Energy Policy in the U.S. Senate

Alaskan Impact: Senator Murkowski, ranking Republican on the Energy Committee, discussed America’s energy future with soon-to-be Energy Committee Chairman Senator Ron Wyden. Wyden joined Murkowski in Alaska in August, getting a first-hand look at the state’s broad range of energy opportunities. The Senators discussed the outlook for energy policy in the 113^th Congress and their commitment to work together on the 80 percent of the issues where there’s bipartisan agreement, including revenue sharing, timber, hydropower and geothermal.
