Veterans
I thank all of our veterans for their selfless service to our country and will continue to be a staunch advocate for them in Congress.
Our veterans sacrificed a tremendous amount for the United States and should have access to the best medical care and veteran centers that we can provide. I also fully support efforts to remove bureaucratic red tape so that our veterans and military retirees can receive the compensation they deserve. Our veterans were willing to die for our country, and we have a moral obligation to ensure they receive the best care and support when they return home.
In the 112th Congress, I have been proud to vote for a number of bills to help our veterans, including the Restoring GI Bill Fairness Act (H.R. 1383) to ensure veterans enrolled in private schools receive the tuition assistance that they were promised. Most recently, I voted to support the VOW to Hire Heroes Act (H.R. 674), which the President has signed into law. This bill creates a job training program and a tax credit for any businesses that hire veterans who have been unemployed for a significant period of time. I look forward to supporting additional measures to help our veterans transition back into our economy when they return from service.
During my time in Congress, I will continue to fight as best as I can for our brave men and women who fought so heroically for us.
