Statement on Speaker Boehner’s Jobs Speech

Posted by Loree Thompson in In The News

I applaud Speaker Boehner on his remarks earlier today at the Economic Club of Washington. While the Speaker agreed to consider President Obama’s jobs initiatives, he also highlighted the underlying problem with job creation in America. The private-sector is hampered by excessive government regulation, burdensome tax increases, and runaway government spending. President Obama’s short-term tricks—his proposed second stimulus bill—would be destructive to the long-term economic health of our country. If the president was serious about creating jobs, he would end the de facto drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico and allow 230,000 Americans the opportunity to work.

To put America back on the right track, the federal government must eliminate oppressive government barriers and allow American businesses to flourish.
