Rep. Culberson supports repeal of controversial Independent Payment Advisory Board

Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee Health Subcommittee approved the bipartisan Medicare Decisions Accountability Act, H.R. 452 by a vote of 17-5.  Congressman John Culberson is a cosponsor of  H.R. 452 and issued the following statement:

“Today’s victory was another major blow to taking down Obamacare. The controversial Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) is 15-member panel of unelected bureaucrats who would be paid $165,300 a year to make cuts to Medicare.

“Doctors in Texas are already struggling to keep their doors open to see Medicare patients.  IPAB is not what Texas seniors and physicians need.  Medical decisions must be made by doctors and their patients, not a panel of unelected bureaucrats paid thousands of dollars to cut the care that seniors need.

“Next month the Supreme Court will take up the constitutionality of Obamacare.   I plan on attending the oral arguments and I sincerely hope the Supreme Court will overturn Obamacare and protect our individual liberty guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.”
