BERMAN ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR VALLEY
TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
Washington, D.C. - Rep. Howard L. Berman (D-Van Nuys) announced today that the highway funding bill passed by the Transportation Committee and slated for approval by the entire House of Representatives includes funding he had requested for five important projects in the 28th Congressional district.
 
These include:
 
1) $6.5 million to widen roads, construct a parking lot and bike lane, and make other improvements to enhance access to the Hansen Dam Recreation Area.
 
2) $1.2 million to provide a variety of pedestrian-friendly streetscape improvements on segments of Laurel Canyon Blvd. and Victory Blvd. in Van Nuys.
 
3) $1.3 million to construct a natural gas fueling station and other infrastructure for clean buses in the City of San Fernando.
 
4) $3 million to provide enhanced landscaping and a permanent irrigation system along the route of the San Fernando Valley bus rapid transitway.
 
5) $2 million to improve parking facilities and electronic signs at Metrolink commuter rail stations.
