Nov 10, 2012 Issues: Veterans

Washington, DC—Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) released the following statement in honor of Veterans Day.

“This Veterans Day, say thank you to the men and women who served in our nation’s military. Our veterans put their lives on the line in order to protect the freedom we as Americans still enjoy today. We must find a way to show our gratitude for the many who have perished in the name of our great country and for the others who just coming home and trying to rebuild their lives. To all the members of our military, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your brave service and salute you as American heroes. May God bless you.”

In Flanders Fields
By: John McCrae

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
