Rep Walberg Votes To Protect Seniors' Access To Health Care

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg voted favor of H.R. 5, the Protecting Access to Healthcare (PATH) Act. The legislation passed by 223 to 181.

H.R. 5 will repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) created under President Obama’s health care law.  The legislation will lower the cost of health care by reforming the medical liability system. Specifically it will cut costs by reducing lawsuits and eliminating defensive medicine.

“Today we dismantled another provision of the President’s burdensome health care law.  By repealing IPAB, we will prevent the administration from blocking seniors’ access to care. Health care decisions should be made by patients, families and their doctors, not by bureaucrats in Washington who are burdening seniors and future generations with fewer options, fewer services and more debt.  H.R. 5 will also save taxpayers billions of dollars in unnecessary health care costs while maintaining high quality care for patients,” commented Congressman Walberg following the vote.
