Trade

Last year, international trade represented $15.6 billion for Arizona’s economy and supported over 34,000 jobs in our district. 

In order to grow our economy and create jobs we must increase American exports to prospering nations and that is exactly what these three trade deals do.  Specifically:  

•    H.R. 3078, the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act will provide U.S. companies with a competitive advantage over their European and Asian counterparts.  Moreover this trade deal will grow the economy, increasing U.S. exports to Colombia by an estimate $1.1 billion and grow the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by $2.5 billion annually.  

•    H.R. 3079, the United States-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act will open up one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America.  The U.S.-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement will support American jobs, expand markets, and enhance U.S. competitiveness by eliminating 87 percent of tariffs on U.S. goods immediately, and phasing out the remaining barriers to U.S. exports to Panama   

•    H.R. 3080, the United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act will increase U.S. exports to South Korea by at least $9.7 billion, and the tariff cuts alone will add $10.1 billion per year to U.S. GDP.  Moreover at a time when America desperately needs job creation the U.S. – South Korea Free trade agreement will create over 70,000 jobs for American workers.
