Walberg Comments on June Unemployment Report

Washington, D.C. - Today, the Labor Department reported that the nation's unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent in June.  Employers added only 18,000 new jobs, and April and May jobs numbers were revised to show 44,000 fewer jobs were created than previously reported. Congressman Tim Walberg released the following statement on the June Unemployment Report:

“The most important issue on my mind, and on the minds of many of my constituents, is jobs.  Today’s anemic jobs number are another reminder that this Administration’s failed policies of spending too much, borrowing too much, and taxing too much are not working and have failed to create jobs.  More needs to be done to get our economy back on track to creating jobs, and the House has presented a plan to do so by reining in red tape and overspending, increasing domestic energy production, and reforming the tax code.   While the House has presented a credible and serious jobs proposal, the President continues to dally and rely on his failed big government policies of the past.”
