Federal Communications Commission

Ensuring that all Americans have access to high-speed Internet connections is one of the indispensable technology tools of the 21st century.  Accordingly, Rep. Markey is the author of the mandate that requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to develop a National Broadband Plan.  Released by the FCC in 2010, the plan, if fully implemented, would spark new investment, innovation, and competition as well as create jobs and bring better broadband speeds, choices, and business-related apps to the small business market.  The FCC also has an important mission to ensure that anti-consumer, anti-innovative monopolies do not form.
