h penalty - not only again enshrine "too big to fail" but also "too big to indict?" As a representative who opposed the Wall Street bailout, I am concerned that some bankers are once again getting away with bad behavior.

  2. The November jobs report shows that our slow economic recovery steadily continues. The progress, however, will be wiped out if we don't do anything to avoid the fiscal cliff. I am continuing to work with a bipartisan group of representative...

  4. As Washington continues to struggle to avoid the fiscal cliff, I am working this week with a bipartisan group of legislators to develop a plan to not only avoid the “cliff,” but to put the nation on a fiscally sustainable path. I was walking in a Christmas parade last weekend when someone yelled out about solving the fiscal cliff, concluding with one word, ‘compromise.’ That is exactly what we need to do.
  5. Argonne National Laboratory has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy as an Energy Innovation Hub devoted to developing new battery technology for transportation and the electric grid. This award sets up Argonne to be the world leader in an emerging field that will promote American energy independence, make green energy more available and affordable, and grow manufacturing in the region.
  6. I spoke at a dedication ceremony today for the new 80th Avenue Station on Metra's Rock Island District Line. The station is a wonderful addition to the community. I'm sure riders appreciate the modern amenities that will make public transportation a more attractive option for their daily commutes. I wish to congratulate Mayor Ed Zabrocki and Metra Chairman Brad O'Halloran on a station that everyone can be proud of.

  8. Today I had the honor of participating in an assembly at St. John of the Cross Parish School in Western Springs, celebrating the school receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award for academic excellence and overall student achievement levels....
School officials visited my office when they were in Washington D.C. last week to receive the prestigious award in person. I am especially proud because St. John of the Cross is my home parish. Congrats to all of the students, teachers and administrators who made this award possible.
