Congressman Brian Bilbray Statement On President Obama's Proposed Budget

Issues: Jobs

"I am disappointed in the President for failing to provide the leadership we need in challenging economic times by proposing a budget that includes excessive spending, $1.6 trillion in new taxes, and accelerates our country down the path to bankruptcy. With one in ten San Diegans unemployed, encouraging job creation is my number one priority. Washington must ease the tax burden on families and begin to foster an environment that makes it easier for small businesses to operate and grow jobs."

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: SDUT: The Human, Financial Costs Of Illegal Immigration

"With nearly one in 10 San Diegans unemployed, it is vital we provide jobs to our citizens ... Illegal immigration creates a black market for jobs in which employers can exploit low cost, illegal laborers ... The costs of illegal immigration are not just financial; they are human. The U.S. government is serving as an accessory to criminal activity when it sends mixed messages about granting amnesty to 12 million to 20 million illegal immigrants." -- Rep. Bilbray (CA-50), Chairman of the Immigration Reform Caucus

Letter to Constituents: Congressman Bilbray Votes to Repeal Obamacare

As one of my first acts in the 112th Congress I upheld my campaign pledge and co-sponsored HR-2, the repeal of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) - otherwise known as Obamacare. Today I officially voted for repeal, the first logical step toward restoring fiscal sanity in Washington. The $1.2 trillion government takeover of health care will increase the cost of care, destroy jobs, and cause budget deficits and our national debt to explode. Repealing this legislation will provide employers with more certainty and help our economy get back to creating jobs. With one in ten San Diegans out of work, providing quality and affordable health care to the citizens of California's 50th district and preventing further harm to our already fragile economy are my top priorities.
