Congressman Brian Bilbray on Supreme Court Ruling on Arizona Immigration Law SB 1070

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brian Bilbray (CA-50) today issued the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court’s decision on Arizona’s SB 1070:

“The failure, or the unwillingness, of the federal government to enforce U.S. immigration laws not only caused Arizona, but other states to take action.  We cannot continue to send mixed messages with our immigration policy and expect a different result.  While we are examining the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision, the problem still remains.  Now, more than ever, Congress must finally get to the root of our immigration problem: illegal jobs.  Congress must pass a national E-verify policy and end the practice of employers taking tax deductions for illegal labor.”
