Massachusetts Law Enforcement Technology and Training Support Center (MALETTSC). CTC, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit company with extensive expertise in the public safety field, will use the requested Federal assistance to further the COPS Office mission of increasing the capacity of law enforcement agencies to implement community policing strategies. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it helps strengthen partnerships for safer communities and enhances law enforcement’s capacity to prevent, solve, and control crime.

Explanation of project, including purpose and why this is a valuable use of taxpayer funds:
Devereux Massachusetts is seeking $700,000 to establish an At-Risk Youth program within their residential facility. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because out-of-home placements and incarceration times for the at-risk youth will be reduced, thus the long-term financial costs for communities and states to place or incarcerate these youth are reduced.

Explanation of project, including purpose and why this is a valuable use of taxpayer funds:
The Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program provides a highly detailed, effective protocol as well as medical services for sexual assault victims who seek medical attention at hospital emergency departments and rape crisis center medical advocacy services. Funding would also support the state’s Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) in which Pediatric SANE nurses work in tandem with a multidisciplinary team to focus on the needs of child sexual assault victims. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds as it provides critical services for victims of sexual assault.

Explanation of project, including purpose and why this is an valuable use of taxpayer funds:
MY TURN, founded in 1984, is a community-based, private, non-profit youth development agency dedicated to providing school-to-work programs for in-school and out-of-school youth, ages 14 to 21 years. MY TURN breaks the cycle of poverty in a young person’s life by developing a youth’s potential to acquire education, life skills, confidence and work experience that lead to a productive adulthood, gainful employment and upward mobility. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because through their Connecting to College, School-to-Work, and Workforce Development Programs, MY TURN helps young people reach a level of self-sufficiency that eliminates reliance on government assistance for basic goods and services. This funding request would go toward two ongoing programs in Fall River, MA.
