About Tim

Tim Bishop represents New York’s First Congressional District which spans the eastern end of Long Island from Smithtown to Montauk Point. A lifelong Long Islander, he is proud of his record of hard work and effective constituent service. He works seven days a week and has hosted more than 100 Town Hall meetings throughout his district. He was first elected to Congress in 2002.

Congressman Bishop’s focus is protecting Long Island’s middle-class families, and his priorities in Congress include improving our economy, fighting for veterans, safeguarding the environment, strengthening access to education, and reforming health care. He is a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment.
