Hurricane Sandy

Our hearts go out to all those affected by Sandy. While the worst may be over, please remain vigilant and be careful.

We have received numerous requests for more information on how to volunteer in disaster-stricken areas both in and outside of Virginia.

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has organized a list of volunteer opportunities and will continue to update the list as more become available.  Information on how to become a disaster volunteer in Virginia and initial information on volunteering in other states to assist with recovery efforts is available at http://www.vaemergency.gov/volunteer.

To learn how to volunteer in your own community, please contact your local emergency management office.

The easiest way to lend a helping hand to those in need is to donate to the Virginia Disaster Relief Fund.  Money raised through the donations from individuals, corporations and fellow Virginians will provide needed aid to those putting their lives back together after this severe storm.
