Just read your newsletter. Thanks for your stand on the financial issues of this nation. Stand firm. I personally do not have a magic credit card that permits non-stop spending and neither does this nation. Also this Obama proposal of raising the debt ceiling without Congressional approval seems like just another power grab which goes further against the balance of powers that our founding fathers created.

Just read your Fall Newsletter in my email and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for taking the time to keep those you represent involved with what is going on in the Congress. I pray God's continued strength over you to stand for the "Principle" that you are placed there to protect. God Bless you and Merry Christmas!

    • If the theory that low taxes on the wealthiest would create jobs was true we should be enjoying very low unemployment - currently taxes are low, interest rates on borrowing is low - so where are the job creators ? The theory is a fools choice. Without the buying power of the middle-class there is no growth. Job creators only create jobs when there are profits to be made - that is how the economics of it works. There are no profits to be made because the middle class cannot spend what they don't have. You must remember who won the election and stop pretending that you know what "The American People" want - it appears we have told congress what we want and congress just will not believe it. There is a serous problem with the ability of some in congress to think clearly. STOP WITH THE POLITICS - do your job - I don't care what party you are - you represent the people - do your job - go with the president's plan and work out the details later. The worst choice is making no decision at all.

  13. Rep. McKinley Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Opposing Carbon Tax on American Businesses and Families.

Washington, D.C.—Rep. David B. McKinley (R-WV), backed by strong bipartisan support, introduced a resolution opposing a federal carbon tax on fuels for electricity and transportation which was similarly included in the Cap and Trade legislation of 2009.

“Given our current economic climate, t....
..his is the worst time to implement another tax on coal, oil and gas—industries that fuel our economy,” said Rep. McKinley. “Affordable and abundant electricity from coal and natural gas is essential to our way of living and a carbon tax would increase the cost of electricity and put a financial burden on American families.”

“Congress rejected Cap and Trade legislation in 2009,” noted McKinley. “The principal argument continues to be that a carbon tax would increase the cost of everything from driving a car to heating and cooling a home.”

Rep. McKinley’s resolution was introduced with the support of Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Emeritus Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH), Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV), Rep. Tim Holden (D-PA), Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN) and Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL).See More
