Human Rights
As a member of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus and the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus, Congressman Waxman is committed to ensuring universal rights and freedoms for individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity or nationality.
Congressman Waxman led the charge to preserve the “Lautenberg Amendment,” a provision ensuring Jews, Christians and Baha’is under threat of the Iranian regime have an escape route to the U.S. He is committed to reducing global poverty through sustainable development, basic education, microcredit lending and enhanced access to affordable medicines. He strongly supports increased funding for HIV/AIDS programming and international family planning programs.
