Times Herald-Record Op-Ed: Hayworth Deserves Credit
Sunday June 17, 2012Times Herald-Record: Hayworth Deserves Credit
The Hudson River is a national treasure, but for more than 10 years it has been at risk of more pollution thanks to two polluter-driven Supreme Court decisions.
These decisions left more than 28,000 miles of New York's streams at risk, including many that feed the Hudson. On June 1, Rep. Nan Hayworth made an important vote to restore critical protections under the Clean Water Act by supporting an amendment to the House Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (HR 5325).
Unfortunately, the amendment failed, but Hayworth should be applauded for standing up for clean water and our beloved waterways.
