Politico Morning Money: Republican Negotiators Continue Working on Full-Year Payroll Tax Relief Extension

House Republican negotiators continued working today on a full-year extension of payroll tax relief for working families.

From Politico Morning Money:

FIRST LOOK: GOP CONFEREES MEET TODAY ON PAYROLL TAX - Per a little bird who whispered to M.M.: "House GOP conferees may be out of town, but the work that remains before them when they return is certainly on their minds. This morning, House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp, who is also a conferee on the yet-to-be conferenced payroll tax extension legislation, will host a call with fellow House GOP conferees to discuss issues surrounding the upcoming conference.

"The call, which is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. will be the first of the new year but not the first time the conferees have met. In the days leading up to the December 23 action by the House and Senate to complete a 2-month extension and convene a conference to resolve differences between the House and Senate, the group of 8 met several times - including appearances with House GOP leadership."

The House passed legislation in December that would extend payroll tax relief for a full-year, reform and extend unemployment insurance, and included business expensing tax relief supported by President Obama that would help create new jobs.
