Mid-Hudson News: Hayworth tells junior school kids to avoid alcohol
Sunday March 11, 2012
EAST FISHKILL – Congresswoman Nan Hayworth is a medical doctor and a mother and she knows better than most that consuming alcohol at an early age is taboo.
She met with members of the Van Wyck Junior Century Council on Friday and spoke to them about the ills of drinking.
“They are just at the age where they are starting to make their own decisions, and the point that I made to them as the mother of two sons is that if they take a drink, they are not in control, the alcohol is in control,” Hayworth said. “That is not where they want to be and I think they understand that.”
The Century Council focuses on the fight against underage drinking in the nation’s middle and junior high schools.
