Indiana Representative Pushes Bill on Drug Shortages

Earlier this week, Representatives Larry Bucshon (R-IN) AND John Carney (D-DE) and introduced H.R.3839, the "Drug Shortage Prevention Act," which, according to its sponsors, is intended to bring "more efficiency to the manufacturing and distribution processes" and to require "FDA to take action to prevent drug shortage problems before they begin impacting patients."

But it could be worse for the Bloomington MPO. A similar bill now in the Senate would eliminate such boards in smaller counties. Bucshon wants no such thing, and neither do we. As he said, these boards serve necessary roles in the local planning process. It is just when they get in the way of major projects that pass through their towns and cities that they need to recognize the consequences run far beyond their county line.

U.S. funding bill may address drug shortages-aides

On Tuesday, Representatives John Carney, a Democrat from Delaware, and Larry Bucshon, a Republican from Indiana, proposed the third drug shortages bill. Among other measures, this legislation would force the FDA to speed up its review of applications from companies that want to change or ramp up production to address shortages.

Students honor Martin Luther King Jr., volunteer around community
Indiana congressman Larry Bucshon spoke to students before they separated into groups during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday. About 160 students participated in the event this year, which included volunteering at various organizations within the Wabash Valley, such as Bethany House, Ryves Hall and the local children's museum.
