U.S. Department of the Interior Approves $2.65 Million for Brown Tree Snake Control
The funding will be divided between Guam, Hawaii and the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI). The Guam Department of Agriculture will receive $200,000 to continue native species restoration, including the Cocos Island Restoration Project, an effort to recover the Ko’Ko’ or Guam Rail which was extirpated by the brown tree snake.
U.S. Department of Justice Awards Guam $738,950 for Crime Prevention and Reduction
The funds were awarded through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, which supports state and local governments in their efforts to reduce crime.
Bordallo Raises Air Force and Air National Guard Force Structure Issues at Readiness Hearing
The Congresswoman addressed concerns about proposed disproportionate cuts to the Air National Guard, including tactical aircraft programs that support its mission requirements, at a hearing on aircraft inventory reductions in the Fiscal Year 2013 budget for the United States Air Force.
