Bordallo Accepting Applications for Nominations to Service Academies until November 30th, 2012

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that she is accepting applications from students interested in attending the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York until Friday, November 30th, 2012. 

All candidates interested in applying for a service academy nomination must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 17 and 23, have a proper Social Security Number (SSN), be unmarried without dependents, and not pregnant.  Candidates must also be taking college-preparatory courses, have a solid academic record, have taken or plan to take the ACT or SAT, and submit at least three letters of recommendation.  A completed application packet, along with the candidate’s letters of recommendation, must be delivered by Friday, November 30th, 2012 to Congresswoman Bordallo’s District Office at 120 Father Duenas Avenue, Suite 107, Hagåtña, Guam, 96910.  Students seeking nomination are advised to be attentive to all other required materials and deadlines to ensure a successful application process.

Recent graduates include Lieutenant David Blas, Lieutenant Thomas Ham, Ensign Jonathan Jake Tenorio, Ensign Kimberly Lizama of the Naval Academy and Second Lieutenant Dominic Leon Guerrero of the Air Force Academy. Blas and Ham are serving at Navy Base Guam and Joint Region Marianas. Tenorio and Lizama are serving on the USS Bunker Hill. Leon Guerrero is serving as a contracting officer at Andersen.
