Tom Carper, U.S. Senator for Delaware

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement on the anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden:

"As we mark this important anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden, our hearts go out to all the families in the United States and around the world who lost a loved one because of his acts of terror and those of Al Qaeda. A year ago this evening, our nation achieved an important victory in our ongoing effort to fight terror at home and around the world after the President, his Administration and our brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Services and counter terrorism forces succeeded in the mission to kill Osama bin Laden. Today, we again honor their tremendous accomplishment, as well as the persistence and sacrifice from the members of the military and intelligence community who worked for over a decade to seek justice for Osama bin Laden's victims. That being said, this is not the end of our efforts to fight terrorism. We need to continue to remain eternally vigilant because we know all too well that there are still those around the world who would do us harm. We must not rest in our work and our progress to stop terrorism and ensure a safer America."
