Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America

Welcome

Happy Chanukah!

The lighting of the candles each evening teaches us that even with the destruction of the holy Temple in Jerusalem, the candles of the Chanukiah are eternal; burning through the darkness we may have encountered and illuminating our way through the year.

It is customary to place the lighted Chanukiah at the entrance to a dwelling, to light the way for all to see in the darkness of the night. In the same way, the light of the candles illuminates our hearts to the darkness around us – the pain and suffering of others; and leads us to the mitzvot we may perform every day without limits or alterations.

All of us at the Jewish War Veterans of the USA and the National Museum of American Jewish Military History wish you a Happy Chanukah, and best wishes on this Festival of Light.

Hurricane Sandy Relief

All of us have been shocked and saddened by the devastation suffered by the residents of the East Coast, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast of our country by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this disaster.

The Jewish War Veterans of the USA will be making its National Disaster Relief Fund available to JWV members and others who have been devastated by this storm. Although our available relief funds are limited as a result of other catastrophes suffered in recent years, it is always our intention to help and support all humans in distress. Please contact Nikki Salzman at 202-265-6280 or . Emergency Fund Chairmen Nathan Goldberg, PNC at 518-446-0104 or Sam Greenberg, PNC at 570-288-2252 for further information.

If you would like to contribute to this relief effort, you may do so by donating online or by sending a check to National Headquarters at 1811 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20009.
