Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery

This nationwide art competition provides Members of Congress an excellent opportunity to showcase the talent of their creative high school constituents and acknowledge our nation's gifted young artists.

Since the competition was created in 1982, nearly 5,000 local contests have been conducted which have involved more than 650,000 high school students. The winning entries from 2002's successful competition hang in the Cannon Tunnel. This remarkable exhibit represents the combined efforts of the Members who conducted their local contests and the students who participated.

Local contests usually begin planning in November and launch in May. Each winning student will be invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony in June. If you are interested, please call Congressman Clay's office at (314) 367-1970 and inquire about this fantastic opportunity in Missouri's First Congressional District.

Below, Congressman Clay meets with his 2007 Congressional Artistic Discovery Winner Jeanette Ling from Parkway North High School.  They are posing with her winning piece, on display in the U.S. Capitol Cannon Tunnel.
