MAGNET Launches Pilot Project to Match Returning U.S. Veterans with Unfilled Manufacturing Jobs in Northeast Ohio

The primary purpose of the MAGNET program is to identify, train and match returning veterans with existing jobs that are going unfilled due to a lack of skilled applicants. The program will respond to the employment challenges and, by extension, housing challenges faced by veterans. With the help of my colleagues Representatives Dennis Kucinich and Betty Sutton, I was able to help secure $200,000 in new funding from the Department of Labor for the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) program, to provide training and job placement services to 100 returning veterans in key manufacturing jobs available in Northeast Ohio such as machinists, inspection/quality technicians and equipment maintenance personnel.
