REP. FUDGE INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO EXTEND VISION AND DENTAL BENEFITS TO VETERANS

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, on the federal holiday in observance of Veterans Day, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) announces new legislation to help America’s veterans and pays tribute to the brave men and woman who have served our country. 

“We are forever indebted to the brave men and women who throughout our history have put their lives on the line for our beloved country. Our Veterans are a true example of the enduring and powerful spirit of Americans. We appreciate their commitment to ensuring the safety of our nation.  I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank this selfless group of Americans, and reaffirm my continued support.”

After meeting with and listening to veterans in her district, Congresswoman Fudge is pleased to introduce legislation to fill a gap in health care coverage for veterans. The Veterans Dental and Vision Benefits Act of 2012 will:

·         Allow veterans to access supplemental dental insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program

·         Allow veterans to access supplemental vision insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program

·         Allow veterans with financial hardships to access supplemental dental and vision insurance without having to pay premiums

It is the duty of a grateful nation to recognize their sacrifice, understand their needs and enact this legislation. I will continue to champion the cause or the more than 2 million troops and reservists, their families, and 23 million veterans of the United States. These courageous men and woman deserve the help and support of our nation and I intend to keep my commitment our nation’s veterans.”
