Sarbanes Releases Video Message, Announces Event to Honor Black History Month

BALTIMORE – In recognition of Black History Month, U.S. Congressman John P. Sarbanes (D-MD) today released a video message on his website.

“This February, I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Black History Month by recognizing the contributions African-Americans have made to our country,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “This year’s Black History Month theme is African-American women in culture and history. We will pay special tribute to civil rights pioneers like Harriet Tubman, who fought to deliver hundreds of slaves from bondage to freedom through the Underground Railroad.”

Later this week, Congressman Sarbanes will join Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley at a reception with the Legislative Black Caucus to honor the contributions African-Americans have made to Maryland and the nation.
