Congressman Sarbanes Addresses Goodwill Employees on Financial Literacy and Rebuilding America

Baltimore, MD – Today Congressman Sarbanes addressed 350 Goodwill employees as a part of the Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake Financial Wellness Breakfast and Fair. The fair connects employees with federal, state and non-profit resources that support working families, such as the Baltimore CASH Campaign, Maryland Children’s Health Program and the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.  It also gives them the tools to strengthen their personal finances.

“For nearly 90 years, Goodwill Industries has helped Marylanders to reach their fullest potential through employment,” said Congressman John Sarbanes. “Sound financial planning and a steady paycheck are the keys to economic security and I am very pleased to participate in this important forum.”

The Congressman addressed the group as their keynote speaker, and offered information and resources for budgeting, financial planning, and consumer advocacy. He also offered his thoughts on rebuilding the American economy.

“We must focus on rebuilding America to create jobs, help working families and bolster our economic recovery,” said Congressman Sarbanes. “We can put people back to work rebuilding our roads and bridges, public transportation, and water and sewer systems.”
