Towson – Congressman John Sarbanes announced today that Civic Works, a non-profit AmeriCorps program, has been awarded a $300,000 Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to train low-income residents to clean up contaminated and vacant properties throughout Baltimore.

“This grant will create more than 100 new green jobs and help revitalize our community,” said Congressman John Sarbanes. “It’s a win-win for our economy and our environment.” 

Since 2000, Civic Works has received five EPA brownfields training grants and has previously trained more than 200 people and placed more than 150 graduates in jobs. For more information on the EPA’s brownfields training grants, please visit their website
