(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves issued the following statement after a federal judge declared the Healthcare law to be unconstitutional.

"Today’s ruling is a victory for common sense. Never before has our government required Americans to buy a product or service just to be a citizen. In fact, this law runs counter to the notion of limited government that our country was founded upon.

The Court was right to declare the entire law void. If left unchallenged, this law would mean that there is no limit to what Congress can decide to regulate. Clearly there must be a limit to the federal government’s power.

I hope that the Supreme Court will take up this ruling and concur that this law is unconstitutional at its earliest opportunity. Small businesses and individuals must be able to plan for tomorrow. The sooner we can agree that this law is unconstitutional, the sooner Congress can begin to pass free market reforms that help make quality health care more accessible and more affordable."
