Graves Named to FAA Conference Committee

(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves was named to the House-Senate Conference Committee on H.R. 658, the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill. The Committee will negotiate the final version of the bill putting Graves in an influential position for Missouri’s aviation interests. Graves serves on the Aviation subcommittee of the Transportation Committee and is the only Missouri member on the Conference Committee.

“It’s vital that Congress provides long-term stability for the FAA to modernize its air traffic control system,” said Graves. “This bill will also help to create American jobs by funding construction projects across the country.”

The FAA reauthorization bill has been extended 23 times since 2007. In July, failure to extend the bill resulted in partial FAA shutdown that furloughed 4,000 employees. The bill is expected to include a number of reforms necessary to modernize our air traffic control system, enhance aviation safety and create an environment that allows expansion and job creation in the commercial aviation industry.
