Workforce Investement Act

A top priority of mine in Congress has been education and the role it can play in improving our economy and helping people get better jobs. I have seen firsthand that when individuals receive more training and education, it can lead to higher paying jobs and a better quality of life for their family. I introduced the Workforce Investment Improvement Act to reauthorize our nation’s job training, adult education and vocational rehabilitation services.

Congressman Guthrie meets with U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Secretary Duncan appeared before the House Education and Labor Committee, of which Congressman Guthrie is a member of, to discuss the Obama administration’s blueprint for overhauling the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, currently known as No Child Left Behind.
